This legislative session we saw proposed legislation, SB267, which was designed to provide more information about who is seeking to influence the Indiana General Assembly. The bill didn’t advance because it was ill-conceived and focused on the wrong kind of spending, but it did raise a conversation that is long overdue.

Hoosiers can access some information about who is spending large amounts of money to influence legislative outcomes, but this information is too little, and it comes too late. Hoosiers deserve easy and timely access to this information. Help us convince the Legislative Council to appoint a summer study to examine this issue and develop a bill to increase transparency of lobbying expenditures.
