Press Release
New Bill Would Ban Mid-Decade Redistricting in Indiana
After weeks of advocacy from Hoosiers opposed to gerrymandering, State Senator Fady Qaddoura will introduce legislation to ban mid-decade redistricting in Indiana during the upcoming legislative session.
More than 20,000 Hoosiers have contacted their lawmakers to say they do not want mid-decade redistricting and do not support the pressure coming from Washington, DC. Indiana lawmakers will now have an opportunity to respond to voters’ concerns and pass a ban on the effort to allow politicians to redistrict anytime it serves their political purposes.
Redistricting leaders will hold a press conference on the bill and opposition to mid-decade redistricting at the Indiana Statehouse on Wednesday, November 19, at 10 a.m. Sen. Qaddoura, Common Cause Indiana, League of Women Voters of Indiana, Women 4 Change and other members of the ALL IN for Democracy coalition will attend.
