엘리자베스 그로스만 joined Common Cause Illinois in August 2024 as the new Executive Director.
Elizabeth is an attorney and public policy advocate with over a decade of experience that spans the public and private sectors. Elizabeth started her career as an immigration attorney and played a pivotal role in Ms. L, the lawsuit challenging family separation at the border. In 2019, Elizabeth joined the Pete Buttigieg presidential campaign as Associate Policy Director; her portfolio included immigration, criminal justice reform, democracy, climate justice, and racial equity.
Since 2020, Elizabeth worked with a variety of non-profits, candidates, and philanthropists to help them develop policy priorities and strategies. Before coming to Common Cause, Elizabeth was Deputy Director of Policy at State Voices where she supported twenty-five state affiliates’ policy initiatives to advance a more equitable democracy. Elizabeth graduated from Claremont McKenna College and the University of Michigan Law School and she clerked for J. Curtis Joyner in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. In her free time, Elizabeth loves reading, watching foreign movies, and spending time with her two longhaired tabby cats, Broomstick and Dustpan.
