Common Cause Hawaii Hosts Family Beach Day to Promote Civic Engagement
Honolulu, Hawaii – On Saturday, Common Cause Hawaii hosted families, community members, and local organizations to “Make Waves, Make Change,” a fun-filled family beach day dedicated to building community and celebrating civic power. The event brought people together to connect, learn, and take action to protect our democratic values in a fun and inclusive environment.
“In these dark times, community is essential. By hosting our ‘Make Waves, Make Change’ event, Common Cause Hawaii is fostering joyful resistance and building a powerful movement to create the democracy we deserve,” said Camron Hurt, state director of Common Cause Hawaii.

The event included activities like volleyball, cornhole, fishing, and surfing, combined with space for civic conversations, all in a relaxed and family-friendly beach setting. Common Cause Hawaii discussed their legislative priorities for the upcoming year, including automatic voter registration, keeping foreign money out of local politics, and creating a small dollar donor campaign finance program.
