Camron Hurt Named Common Cause’s Hawaii State Director
Honolulu, HI – Today, Common Cause named Camron Hurt as its new Hawaii State Director. Hurt began his Common Cause career as Hawaii Program Manager in 2023 and was promoted to Program Director in 2024 before transitioning to this new leadership role.
“Working with the nonpartisan organization that has been defending our democracy since before I was born has been a dream come true,” said Hurt. “In my new role, I look forward to working with the people of Hawaii to continue championing our power and building a government that works for all of us.”
Under Hurt’s leadership, Common Cause successfully led the 2023 campaign to pass new legislation improving Hawaii’s state campaign finance system. This package of reforms included stronger lobbying disclosure laws, limits on cash gifts to campaigns, and a digital voter information guide.
During his tenure, Hurt has also mobilized hundreds of nonpartisan election protection volunteers across the state to serve as a first line of defense for voters. This program has helped countless Hawaii residents make themselves heard at the ballot box.
