Other concerns of the impact of this law include:\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding additional burdens for county offices<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Opening the door for even more mass voter challenges by expanding the criteria to sustain them<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tightening the timeline that election offices have to count absentee ballots<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding new and unnecessary chain of custody procedures.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<b>In response to the signing, Aunna Dennis, Executive Director of Common Cause Georgia issued the following statement:<\/b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis law will only cause more harm to Georgia voters.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese unrealistic burdens will leave election workers scrambling to implement the new changes with barely enough time before the November election.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Georgia legislature ignored the input of election directors from across the state about these provisions and how it would impact their ability to conduct elections, continuing their pattern of imposing unfunded mandates in the name of solving problems that do not exist.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCommon Cause Georgia will continue to educate the public on this harmful law and the impact it will have on voters and election workers.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">###<\/span><\/p>"}}]},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.6 (Yoast SEO v27.1.1) -
