Lawmakers will meet today for swearing in and leadership votes to start off the session.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559739&quot;:20}\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In a statement regarding the start of the legislative session, executive director for Common Cause Georgia, Rosario Palacios shared the following: <\/span><\/b>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe start of every session is an opportunity for elected officials to meet the needs of Georgia voters with their lawmaking and fiscal duties. Legislators should offer the government transparency voters are asking for in every step of the civic process and strive to increase participation in our democracy.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWhile legislators decide their priority areas these next few months, our focus as an organization is clear: Common Cause Georgia will be advocating for accessible voting rights, voting rights restoration, and government transparency throughout our legislative processes. We'll also watch for Georgia legislators to enact protections for voters from last minute policy changes that disrupt and dissuade electoral participation.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cCommon Cause Georgia plans to stop harmful attempts to pass restrictive voter ID and absentee voting laws through the increased engagement of our volunteers and coalition partners.
