Voters can view final totals here.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Georgia\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/results.sos.ga.gov\/results\/public\/Georgia\/elections\/2024NovGen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secretary of State<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, more than 5 million Georgia voters participated in Tuesday\u2019s general election. Over 73% of registered voters cast their ballots, reflecting growing trust in the electoral process despite challenges such as bomb threats at polling sites.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common Cause Georgia played a vital role in early voting, election day, and post-certification efforts across the state and particularly in Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, and Forsyth counties.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cobb County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 voter turnout was at 79% with key issues there included syncing of voting machines and ballot registration discrepancies.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fulton County <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 voter turnout was 71% with the certification process extended past the 5:00 PM on November 12.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>DeKalb County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 voter turnout was 74% with minor discrepancies resolved during the certification process.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Forsyth County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 voter turnout was the highest at 83%, with a few ballot rejections due to timing issues for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UOCAVA) voters.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<b>In response to the general election, Rosario Palacios, organizing director of Common Cause Georgia issued the following statement:\r\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn this election, Common Cause Georgia ensured that approximately 150+ unique polling places were monitored across Georgia, ensuring broad coverage in urban and rural areas.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe secured over 540 poll monitoring shifts and election day, and post-certification observation efforts from 200+ volunteers. This reflects a strong commitment to voter protection.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLooking ahead to 2025, Common Cause Georgia plans to focus on advocating for disability access and increasing voter registration processes and the expansion of Spanish-language voting resources in a couple of counties.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor the upcoming\u00a0 legislative session, we will be monitoring ongoing risks from misinformation campaigns targeting minority communities and efforts to limit voter access through restrictive measures in the General Assembly.
