{"id":1499,"date":"2024-11-07T16:37:13","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T21:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.commoncause.org\/georgia\/?post_type=press&#038;p=1499"},"modified":"2024-11-07T16:37:13","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T21:37:13","slug":"media-advisory-deadline-to-cure-georgia-ballots-ends-today-november-7-at-5-p-m","status":"publish","type":"press","link":"https:\/\/www.commoncause.org\/georgia\/press\/media-advisory-deadline-to-cure-georgia-ballots-ends-today-november-7-at-5-p-m\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDIA ADVISORY: Deadline to Cure Georgia Ballots Ends Today, November 7 at 5 p.m."},"template":"","class_list":["post-1499","press","type-press","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":{"details":{"summary":"","featured_image":"","press_type":false,"authors":"","related_issues":false,"related_work":false,"location":13},"sidebar":{"helper_enable_sidebar":false,"helper_media_contact":{"heading":"Media Contact","manually_enter_person":false,"person":"","name":"","role":"","phone":"","email":""},"helper_links_downloads":{"heading":"Links & Downloads","links":null}},"page_layout":[{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_wysiwyg","_acfe_flexible_toggle":"","component_wysiwyg":{"content":"<b>WHAT:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> After the general election, voters who have a signature issue with their vote-by-mail ballot or who voted a provisional ballot have until 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 to fix (or \u201ccure\u201d) the issue if they want to ensure their ballot will be counted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe need every Georgian to have their voices heard in this election, which is why those who voted-by-mail should use the ballot tracking tool on their county Supervisor of Elections website to ensure their ballot was received without issue,\u201d said <\/span><b>Rosario Palacios, Common Cause Georgia\u2019s organizing director.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cGeorgia \u2019s Supervisors of Elections should notify vote-by-mail voters if there is a problem with the signature on their ballot, but it's important for voters to check their ballot status online in case they missed the notification.\u201d<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>WHEN: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday November 7, 5:00 p.m.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>HOW: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Voters who had issues with their vote-by-mail ballot now have an opportunity to cure, or fix, their ballots, but must do so before 5 p.m. on November 7.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To cure a signature issue on their vote-by-mail ballot, voters need to:\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mvp.sos.ga.gov\/s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">my voter page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> portal to check your ballot status<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide a copy (or photo) of the required forms of identification.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submit any signed forms and copy of identification by email, fax, or delivery to their county supervisor of elections office by 5 p.m. Thursday, November 7<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A person other than the voter can drop off of the signed form and copy of identification as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Voters should be contacted by elections officials if there is a problem with their vote-by-mail ballot.
