WATCH: Common Cause speaks up for Georgia voters
2024 Legislative Session
Common Cause Georgia monitored the activity of the Georgia General Assembly during the legislative session that ran from January 8, 2024 - March 28, 2024. We submitted written testimony and gave public comment at committee hearings on proposed bills dealing with voting and elections, redistricting, ethics, and government transparency. We also provided questions, talking points, and amendment language to legislators and helped to keep the public and media informed of relevant legislation.
2023 Elections Debrief
Every year is an election year in Georgia. Even without statewide elections, in 2023 there were several municipal races throughout the state, from mayoral contests to school board seats to changes to special-purpose local-option sales tax (SPLOST). While much smaller scale and with lower turnout, these off-year contests offer a glimpse of issues we can expect entering the 2024 election cycle.
