Rosario Palacios Named Executive Director of Common Cause Georgia
ATLANTA — Today, Common Cause is excited to announce Rosario Palacios as the new executive director of Common Cause Georgia, a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to protecting and empowering Georgia voters.
Since joining the team last August, Palacios has led the organization’s election protection programs, voting rights organizing efforts, and legislative accountability work.
“We are so pleased to have Rosario take the lead in Georgia, where some of our most monumental voting and elections work takes place,” said Common Cause President & CEO Virginia Kase Solomón. “I’m confident in Rosario’s organizing and advocacy experience to unite diverse communities across the state to protect access to the ballot box. Her experience building coalitions and protecting the vote in the 2024 election makes a powerful combination to lead the battle for the ballot in the south.”
As organizing director for Common Cause Georgia, Palacios organized hundreds of election volunteers in the 2024 General election, helping to protect the vote in all of Georgia’s 159 counties. Palacios brings over 12 years of multilingual community organizing and management experience in public and private organizations across the Southern United States.
“I’m honored to serve as the next executive director for Common Cause Georgia.” Palacios said. “Common Cause has a long and impressive history of fighting for a more inclusive democracy in Georgia. As an organization, we have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us with Georgia’s legislative session. I am ready to lead our Common Cause team as we continue to hold our leaders accountable so all Georgians can make their voices heard.”
Rosario Palacios was raised in Gainesville, Georgia and graduated from the University of North Georgia. She is a published author and has been involved in community-led voting rights efforts since 2008. Rosario has dedicated her expertise to the development of hundreds of leaders in Georgia, and across the country, through work with the UNG, GALEO, and Generation Data. She is the co-founder of GA Familias Unidas where she led a successful federal campaign that was the first case of DOL-supported prosecutorial discretion for poultry plant workers.
Rosario Palacios serves on the Board of Directors for the ACLU of Georgia, the Georgia Budget Policy Institute (GBPI), and is an active member of political education initiatives for her sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated. When not working, Rosario enjoys spending time with her children and spouse in their North Georgia home.
