Common Cause Wisconsin appelle les l\u00e9gislateurs de l'\u00c9tat \u00e0 remplacer la manipulation des circonscriptions l\u00e9gislatives \u00e0 des fins partisanes par un processus de red\u00e9coupage \u00e9quitable.

Wisconsin is so heavily gerrymandered that almost half of the legislators up for reelection in November will face little or no opposition<\/a>. During the 2013-2014 legislative session, Common Cause helped unite pro-reform legislators behind Assembly Bill 185<\/a> et Senate Bill 163<\/a>, identical bills modeled after Iowa’s redistricting process.<\/p>

The Iowa model, launched 34 years ago, delegates the boundary-drawing to a non-partisan state entity that does not consider party politics. A list of legislators who support this effort is available here.<\/a> <\/p>

This reform plan has been endorsed by 19 Wisconsin daily newspapers. Thousands of citizens also have expressed their support through letters to the editor, direct communications to legislators, and by attending one of six “reform forums” Common Cause Wisconsin organized throughout the state. Unfortunately, the legislative leadership has so far ignored this outpouring of support and refused to hold even a public hearing on the measure.
