“Steve Beshear is ending his service as governor with a service to democracy. His executive order restoring the voting rights of tens of thousands of Kentuckians who have completed their sentences for non-violent offenses will be welcomed by every fair-minded citizen and will encourage ex-offenders to take on the responsibilities of good citizenship.

We urge Gov.-elect Bevin to endorse and vigorously implement Gov. Beshear’s initiative. We hope that Sen. Rand Paul, who has testified in support of restoring the rights of ex-offenders, will use his influence with the governor-elect and his fellow Republicans in the state legislature to see that this order has bi-partisan support.”
