Four Things to Know About Convicted Criminal Tina Peters
Article de blog
We watched the Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s hearing, so you don’t have to. After more than four hours of grilling, questions, yelling, deflections, and lies, here are the highlights:
1.Senator Kennedy Questioned Noem on a DHS Media Contract
Noem was questioned about the DHS no bid contract for “a fifth to a quarter of a billion dollars” meant to boost her name recognition.
Those $143 million are coming from taxpayer dollars that were given to friends of Noem and their media company that was formed only 11 days prior to the deal being awarded.
Our tax dollars should not be used by the Secretary of Homeland Security to amplify her image in a glamorized photoshoot.
2.Dodging Questions about the Luxury Jet
Senator Whitehouse questioned Noem on the $70 million luxury jet that she requested for deportations and cabinet member travel.
If it were approved, the jet would be paid for by American taxpayers. Noem again didn’t answer.
Reminder: Noem is requesting this jet during a partial government shutdown.
3.Senator Tillis’s Leadership Questions

The Senator called out Noem’s lack of leadership by comparing the decision to kill her dog to how she handled Minneapolis. Tillis emphasized that both were bad decisions that she made in the heat of the moment and called for her removal as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
4.Senator Klobuchar’s Minnesota Question
Noem was grilled by Senator Klobuchar on how ICE has violated our constitutional rights, particularly her constituents in Minnesota, and questioned her on how many DHS agents remain in Minnesota.
Noem’s answer was 650, still too high a number.
We need ICE out of our communities now.
This hearing makes one thing clear — Kristi Noem is unfit to be Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. She cannot take accountability for her actions or the abuse that she has allowed to occur at the hands of ICE in our communities.
