Supreme Court Flip Flop Means Congress Must Act
Article de blog
Stephen Miller’s war on democracy isn’t just happening inside Trump’s administration – his extremist allies are pushing it on the outside, too.
That’s right. A far-right legal group that Stephen Miller co-founded is trying to impose a national “show your papers” rule that’s straight from the GOP’s failed anti-voter Loi SAVE. It would force Americans to show costly documents like passports or birth certificates just to register to vote.
It’s a voter suppression scheme that could silence millions of eligible Americans. Miller’s allies have already flooded the Elections Assistance Commission (EAC) with thousands of comments – we need your voice to push back now.
Follow this simple three-step process to submit your comment. It only takes a minute – and you can remain anonymous if you’d like.
“I strongly oppose this rule, which could block 21 million eligible Americans from voting just because they don’t have access to expensive government documents like a passport or birth certificate. It would disenfranchise rural voters, anyone who has gotten married and changed their last name, and working families – without improving election security.”
OR
“I oppose this rule that would silence American citizens – forcing us to spend money and time getting government documents just to register to vote. The current legal requirements are enough!”
3. Submit your comment. Go to the “Tell us about yourself!” section. Select “An Individual” if you want to share your comment publicly, or “Anonymous” if you don’t. Check the “I’m not a robot” box and click submit to make your voice heard!
Let’s be clear about what’s happening here: Trump and MAGA think they can’t win free and fair elections – so their plan is to make voting harder for the people who would vote them out.
But their unpopular SAVE Act already failed in Congress, and this “show your papers” tactic was blocked by the courts when Trump tried to impose it by executive order.
That’s why they’re trying to sneak this rule in through the back door. We have until October 20th to push back. If enough of us speak out and flood the EAC with public opposition, we can stop this voter suppression scheme in its tracks.
