","featured_image":6516,"article_type":162,"authors":["{\"site_id\":\"1\",\"post_type\":\"person\",\"post_id\":7790}"],"related_issues":[98,100,109,402],"related_work":[111],"location":null},"sidebar":{"helper_enable_sidebar":false,"helper_media_contact":{"heading":"Media Contact","manually_enter_person":false,"person":null,"name":"","role":"","phone":"","email":""},"helper_links_downloads":{"heading":"Links & Downloads","links":null}},"page_layout":[{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_wysiwyg","_acfe_flexible_toggle":null,"component_wysiwyg":{"content":"<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nearly 3.7 million Floridians cast their ballots in the Aug. 23 primary election.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And Common Cause Florida was there to provide support to ensure every voter \u2014 whether they voted by mail, at early voting, or in-person on election day \u2014 had the support needed to cast their ballot.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>This was my first election as Common Cause Florida\u2019s program director<\/strong>, and I was blown away by the dedication and energy of our more than two dozen nonpartisan Florida Election Protection Coalition partners and hundreds of volunteers.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common Cause Florida co-leads the coalition, and, together, coalition partners:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mobilized and coordinated 60 organizers and election experts across two dozen organizations<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provided nonpartisan poll monitor training for 400-plus volunteers<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staffed over 650 poll monitor shifts to help voters at the polls during early voting and on Election Day<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fielded over 1,100 calls from people across 44 Florida counties on the 866-Our-Vote hotline<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Distributed voting rights information in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have long known that to build a democracy that truly is of, by, and for the people, we need to all pitch in to help voters navigate what can be a confusing process.
