More than 30 Florida grassroots organizations today released a letter to state legislative leaders, urging them to “ensure that the remaining committee weeks and 2021 legislative session have structures and systems in place to ensure accountability and an open, accessible, and transparent process that allows for meaningful input from the public.”

In the wake of Wednesday’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Common Cause Florida is calling for the immediate resignation of Sen. Rick Scott and 12 members of Congress after they voted to overturn the will of the people.

The ability to vote should never be conditioned on economic circumstances. The 'demos' in democracy means all the people decide, not the moneyed people."

"No one should have to choose between their health and their vote, yet that is the choice that Governor DeSantis is forcing them to make," said Liza McClenaghan, state chair of the Common Cause Florida governing board. "We urge the Governor to give voters a clear range of safe and secure options to cast their vote-by-mail ballots or to cast their ballots in-person at early voting sites and precinct polling places on Election Day."
