Support Disaster-Affected Voters
Call your representatives in the Florida House and Florida Senate and ask them to support the Elections During Emergencies bills: HB 1191 & SB 1416
These common sense bills would improve communications with voters about disaster-related election changes and give Supervisors of Elections the ability to quickly implement proven measures in response to disasters, without having to wait for a specific Executive Order, such as:
- Send or forward a vote-by-mail ballot to a temporary address where a voter is staying
- Designate additional early voting sites
- Respond to poll worker shortages
- Allow voting at early voting sites on the day before election day and on election day, with approval from the Secretary of State
- Designate additional secure ballot intake stations for returning vote-by-mail ballots, with approval from the Secretary of State

Here’s an idea of what you can say:
My name is [Insert Your Name] and I am a constituent from [Insert Your Town].
I am calling to ask you to support legislation that ensures every eligible voter impacted by a disaster has the same support and opportunities to cast their ballot—no matter what county they live in. Floridians affected by disaster shouldn’t have to choose between recovery and casting their ballot. Please support the Election During Emergencies bill (HB 1191/SB 1416).
Thank you for your consideration.
