Stop Florida’s Voter Purge Bills
Florida House Bill 991 and Senate Bill 1334 would remove thousands of eligible U.S. citizens from the voter rolls and prevent eligible U.S. citizens from being registered to vote.
These bills would require ALL Florida voters to re-verify their citizenship status in order to keep voting. All new and existing voters would have their records checked in error-prone government databases.
If the database doesn’t have the correct documentation on file for you, you would have to submit specific evidence to prove your citizenship in order to vote – even if you’ve been voting for years.
It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in Florida, and the consequences of doing so are extremely harsh. That is NOT what these bills are really about. This is about making voting harder for Floridians so that our elected officials aren’t held accountable.
