Anoche, el comediante John Oliver dedicó unas palabras selectas a algunas legislaturas estatales y a los proyectos de ley radicales que se están elaborando. Vale la pena ver todo el segmento, especialmente la parodia que Oliver hace del Consejo Americano de Intercambio Legislativo (AIC), el oscuro lobby corporativo que reescribe proyectos de ley en todo el país.
Last night, comedian John Oliver had choice words for some state legislatures and the extreme bills they’re pushing out. The whole segment is worth a watch, especially Oliver’s send-up of the American Legislative Exchange Council, the shadowy corporate lobby rewriting bills in states across our nation.
These cookie cutter bills are ridiculous, but if you want to do something about them, you might be out of luck. Thanks to gerrymandering, insider politics, and how expensive campaigns are, over a thousand state lawmakers are running unoppposed this year.
