A resolu\u00e7\u00e3o hist\u00f3rica aproxima Connecticut de se juntar aos 43 estados do pa\u00eds que permitem a vota\u00e7\u00e3o antecipada. A resolu\u00e7\u00e3o j\u00e1 havia sido aprovada pelas duas casas da Assembleia Geral em 2019 e precisa de maioria simples em cada uma delas para ser inclu\u00edda na c\u00e9dula eleitoral de 2022. Agora, a resolu\u00e7\u00e3o segue para o Senado para vota\u00e7\u00e3o final. Em resposta, Cheri Quickmire, Diretora Executiva da Common Cause em Connecticut, divulgou a seguinte declara\u00e7\u00e3o: \u201cConnecticut \u00e9 um dos apenas 7 estados que n\u00e3o permitem a vota\u00e7\u00e3o presencial antecipada \u2013 uma realidade que torna o voto menos acess\u00edvel a milhares de residentes que s\u00e3o for\u00e7ados a escolher entre faltar ao trabalho ou a obriga\u00e7\u00f5es familiares e exercer seu direito de voto. Aplaudimos os 115 legisladores que votaram a favor desta resolu\u00e7\u00e3o hist\u00f3rica. A vota\u00e7\u00e3o de hoje \u00e9 um passo crucial para os direitos de voto em Connecticut, mas ainda h\u00e1 muito trabalho a ser feito. Exortamos veementemente os legisladores a agirem rapidamente para permitir o voto por correspond\u00eancia sem justificativa em Connecticut, levando a Resolu\u00e7\u00e3o Conjunta da C\u00e2mara 58 \u00e0 vota\u00e7\u00e3o, e a tomarem medidas em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao Projeto de Lei do Senado 5 \u2013 legisla\u00e7\u00e3o que tornaria nosso estado um l\u00edder em direitos de voto, codificando o registro autom\u00e1tico de eleitores e restaurando os direitos de voto para pessoas em liberdade condicional.\u201d Connecticut \u00e9 atualmente um dos apenas 7 estados em todo o pa\u00eds que n\u00e3o permitem a vota\u00e7\u00e3o presencial antecipada e um dos apenas 16 estados que n\u00e3o permitem que todos os eleitores votem por correspond\u00eancia.
