Amidst the coverage of an impending government shutdown, the Department of Justice announced today that it was suing North Carolina to halt its breathtakingly restrictive new voting law.

We saw an attempt this week, once again, to make voting more difficult in Colorado for those who do not have a particular form of ID.

Every day that Congress is not actively working towards a new preclearance formula is a day that some states are working to undermine the rights of their citizens. It has to stop now. Congress must act.
