A report released today by California Common Cause examines the timing of elections in each of California’s 482 cities to determine which jurisdictions hold their elections concurrent with statewide elections in June and November of even years (on-cycle) and which jurisdictions hold elections at other times (off-cycle).

Yesterday evening, Governor Brown signed into law SB 113 and SB 29, two elections bills that promise to expand the franchise and increase turnout among voters in the state.

A diverse coalition of 16 civil rights and democracy organizations unveiled today a set of principles that should guide any process for drawing legislative lines.

In Los Angeles, voter turnout rates are on the decline. Voter turnout in LA County for the Tuesday June 3rd Primary Election was 13 percent.

According to the Pew Charitable Trusts' latest Elections Performance Index (EPI), California ranks 49th in the first comprehensive assessment of election administration in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
