5 Million Strong: A People-Powered Movement with One Shared Promise

In America, we don’t have kings.

This weekend, we marched alongside thousands of Common Cause members—and millions more across the country.

Standing shoulder to shoulder with Democrats, Republicans, and independents, we showed up 5 million strong in over 2,100 cities to send a message that couldn’t be ignored: in America, we don’t have kings.

From Coast to Coast: The “No Kings” Message Echoed Loudly

We rallied in parks, on courthouse steps, and in the streets of big cities and small towns. We carried signs. We sang. We cried.

And together, we made something undeniable: a people-powered movement that’s not just watching history happen—we’re shaping it.

Resisting Trump 2.0: A Movement Reborn

Just a few months ago, the so-called experts in Washington were saying Trump 2.0 couldn’t be resisted. That we were too tired. That the far-right had won.

We helped prove them wrong.

Trump wants to act like a dictator because he knows the people aren’t behind him. But the American people are tired.

Tired of watching leaders silence dissent and hoard power. Tired of the hate and threats aimed at our communities. Tired of being told to sit down and take it while everything we care about is under attack.

A Surge in Action: The Growing Momentum of Protest in 2025

And we’re seeing it in the streets, too. Since Trump returned to office, the number of protests and rallies has skyrocketed—three times as many as at this point in his first term. After this weekend’s No Kings mobilizations, that number is only growing.

This weekend made something clear: What we showed—peacefully—is that we’re not going anywhere.

Mourning Together: Standing in Solidarity After Tragedy

Even in a weekend filled with hope, we can’t ignore the pain some of our communities are carrying right now.

A tragic incident at a No Kings event in Salt Lake City resulted in the death of a No Kings attendee, and others were impacted by violence in Minnesota and beyond. We’re grieving with them.

We reject political violence in all forms. And as we mourn, we recommit to protecting one another—and to continuing this work with care, courage, and resolve because together, we are powerful.

How a Trump Policy Priority was Defeated in Deep Red Texas

SB 16 could easily have sailed through the Texas Legislature. Instead, we kept it from becoming law.

Lots of factors contributed to the death of SB 16. One of the biggest factors: you! Thanks to months of hard work and tireless advocacy from Common Cause members like you, along with the hundreds of coalition partners, activists, and supporters of voting rights who showed up at committee hearings, sent emails, made calls, and spread the word across social media.
