Voters in \u0645\u064a\u0634\u064a\u063a\u0627\u0646<\/a>, \u0643\u0648\u0644\u0648\u0631\u0627\u062f\u0648<\/a>, \u0645\u064a\u0633\u0648\u0631\u064a<\/a>\u060c \u0648 \u064a\u0648\u062a\u0627<\/a> will also likely have a chance to vote on redistricting reform on the November 2018 ballot. The Colorado campaign has not yet begun to gather signatures, but the other three campaigns have submitted signatures and are awaiting certification to determine whether they will be placed on the November ballot.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, two high-profile cases challenging partisan political redistricting cases have already been heard by the U.S. Supreme Court this year: \u062c\u064a\u0644 \u0636\u062f \u0648\u064a\u062a\u0641\u0648\u0631\u062f<\/em><\/a>, a challenge to Republican gerrymandering in Wisconsin, and \u0628\u0646\u064a\u0633\u0643 \u0636\u062f \u0644\u0627\u0645\u0648\u0646<\/em><\/a>, a challenge Democratic partisan gerrymandering in Maryland. The Supreme Court will rule on both cases later this term and will also likely hear a third case brought by Common Cause challenging partisan gerrymandering in North Carolina (\u0642\u0636\u064a\u0629 \u0645\u0634\u062a\u0631\u0643\u0629 \u0636\u062f \u0631\u0648\u062a\u0634\u0648<\/em><\/a>) next term.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAbout Ohio\u2019s Issue 1 Reform:<\/u><\/strong>\r\n\r\nIssue 1 focuses on reining in the worst excesses of gerrymandering through bipartisan mapmaking, greater transparency and giving Ohioans tools so that they can make their own maps and participate more fully in mapmaking. This reform will create a multi-step process making it more difficult for one party to draw districts to give itself an unfair advantage in elections. Under the measure, approval of a map will now require a supermajority and bipartisan support in either the General Assembly or, if that fails, in the Ohio Redistricting Commission. If a plan does not receive supermajority and bipartisan approval from either the General Assembly or the Ohio Redistricting Commission, the General Assembly may adopt a plan with a simple majority. However, a map approved in this manner must adhere to stricter requirements protecting against gerrymandering and the map legislators approve will only last four years.\r\n\r\nOhioans previously approved a measure in 2015 to revamp the state legislative redistricting process, which won 71% of the vote and in all 88 counties."}}]},"yoast_head":"\nOhioans Approve Bipartisan Reform of Congressional Redistricting in Growing National Trend -
