National Watchdog Strengthens Fight Against Corruption with New Board Members

Today, the country’s premiere good government group announced its growing movement with the addition of four members to its national governing board. The leading experts in their fields will strengthen the organization’s work, including combatting threats to voting and civil rights under the Trump administration.

The new board members:

  • Cliff Albright, Cofounder, Black Voters Matter Fund and BVM Capacity Building Institute: In addition to being a national leader in mobilizing Black voters during critical elections, Cliff is a prolific writer, speaker, and trusted voice on civil rights, civic engagement, and engaging diverse communities.
  • Carrie Davis, Democracy Program Director, Joyce Foundation: A leading nonpartisan advocate of pro-democracy policies, from fair redistricting to mitigating political violence, across the country. She brings a depth of experience in litigation, lobbying, and policy with a strong track record of championing fair representation.
  • Quentin James, Founder & President, The Collective PAC: A seasoned expert in recruiting, training, funding, and supporting the next generation of Black leaders to run for office. His leadership drives impactful, people-powered movements that advance inclusion and civic engagement.
  • Ellen L. Weintraub, former Chair and Commissioner of the Federal Election Commission: As four-time chair of the U.S. Federal Election Commission from 2002 to 2025, she is a leading expert in breaking big money’s grip on American politics and protecting American elections from foreign interference.

“Cliff, Carrie, Quentin, and Ellen are each proven, trusted leaders with deep experience in making government more responsive and inclusive to everyday people,” said Virginia Kase Solomón, president and CEO of Common Cause. “Not since the days of McCarthyism and Jim Crow have we faced a government who is attacking its own citizens with such cruelty and vindictiveness. The expertise of our new board members will steer our work to hold power accountable from Washington D.C. to statehouses across the country.”
