ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: We are seeking a student intern to work with our National Youth Programs  team to promote youth civic engagement. Intern will assist with research, communications, and advocacy campaigns. Individuals with a keen interest in Voting Rights and government affairs, can-do attitude, and a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy are highly encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research civic engagement topics and how they affect youth
  • Compile research findings into digestible content (blogs, infographics, Democracy Wire post)
  • Develop weekly content for our social media accounts (important civic engagement dates, election information, research findings, current events)
  • Create an editorial calendar to maintain publishing schedule
  • Create and distribute content for our youth email list
  • Work with Youth Programs Coordinator to plan and promote virtual engagement events
  • Engage students and community partners around advocacy, leadership and civic education
  • General support for other communications needs

The Summer 2022 intern will work for 8 weeks for 15-20 hours/week.

Hours and start dates are flexible, ideally June 1-July 29.

LOCATION: Remote; open to undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates.

COMPENSATION: Interns will be paid $600 as an untaxed stipend every 2 weeks. There will be a total of four payments.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be passionate about good government issues. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Excellent writing, researching, and editing skills are required. Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse range of community partners. Good listening and communication skills.
