'Gerrymandering removes pesky choices from your ballot!'

This ad is ridiculous ... but so is gerrymandering.

This ad is ridiculous ... but so is gerrymandering.

Gerrymandering is the longtime practice of partisan politicians drawing our state's voting maps to unfairly favor their own party. In turn, opposing candidates have little or no chance of winning in these manipulated districts, and often don't bother to run at all, leaving voters with no choice and no voice in who represents them.

Just one candidate is running in a third of North Carolina's legislative races this year, deciding the outcome of these elections before a single ballot is cast. How is this democracy?

Fortunately, a growing number of citizens and political leaders across the political spectrum agree that we need independent redistricting reform. If you believe that North Carolinians deserve to have a choice and a voice in our elections, please sign our petition to end gerrymandering.

Together, we can ensure that North Carolina voters get to choose their representatives, instead of partisan politicians choosing their voters.
