The Reverend Doctor Earl Cornell Johnson is the pastor of historic Martin Street Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is entering his second year of service as its pastor and his twentieth year in the ministry. Reverend Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism (with a concentration in religion and philosophy) and the Master of Divinity Degree from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. In 2009. Dr. Johnson was awarded the Doctor of Ministry Degree in Metro-Urban Ministry from New Brunswick Theological Seminary, the country’s oldest seminary that was founded in 1784 and is located at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was selected as the seminary's first Hugh Koops Scholar. Dr. Johnson began his pastorate at Main Street Baptist Church in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
