Common Cause/NY Responds to DOH Commish Letter on Fracking

In response to a letter regarding hydraulic fracturing from the Commissioner of the Department of Health to the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation, Susan Lerner, Executive Director of Common Cause/NY released the following statement:

"To date, the scant details revealed in Dr. Shah's letter to DEC Commissioner Martens, represent the most information the public has received about the Department of Health's review of hydraulic fracturing. It is unacceptable that a decision effecting millions of New Yorkers will be made in the next few weeks without a clear sense of the review process itself. Although Common Cause/NY is pleased that the deadline for the decision has been moved back, such a contested issue demands a more deliberate process to better inform the public and demonstrate respect for their concerns."
