Comcast-Time Warner Cable Merger

Comcast, a giant cable and internet provider with less than a million subscribers in New York is seeking state and federal approval to buy Time Warner Cable, which provides cable, phone, and internet service to more than 2.4 million New Yorkers.  In line with our general concern about the negative impact of increased media consolidation, Common Cause opposes this merger. Here in New York our state law provides the NY Public Service Commission with a unique opportunity to prohibit or condition this merger. With public hearings in mid-June and a comment deadline of July 21, there are numerous opportunities to let the PSC know how you feel about this proposed merger.
