Public Private Entities

Nebraska has a number of entities that straddle the bounds between public and private interests. Among them are the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority (MECA) in Omaha, as well as the University of Nebraska Foundation. These organizations carry-out governmental functions, while escaping the accountability of open meetings, public records, and conflict of interest statements.

In short, we believe that these entities should fall under our state sunshine laws, so the public can keep an eye on their work and make sure they are severing the best interests of our cities and the state as a whole.
