Support Early Voting in Mississippi

Senate Bill 2223 allows early voting up to 21 days before Election Day. The bill was introduced by Senator David Blount. The bill also would allow authorized persons eligible to vote in the State to submit their voter registration applications through secure internet website established by the Secretary of State. This bill provides more access to voting for citizens and it is an important issue to Commons Cause. The bill has been double referred to the Senate Elections Committee and Senate Accountability, Efficiency, Transparency Committee.

House Bill 228 would allow early voting up to 14 days before the Election Day. The bill was introduced by Representative Bill Denny and it has been referred to the House Apportionment and Elections Committee. Early voting would allow more access to voting for citizens and this is an issue that is important to Common Cause. It was referred to the House Apportionment and Elections Committee.

House Bill 249 is another early voting bill that was introduced by Representative Alice Clarke. This bill would allow early voting up to 21 days before  Election Day. This bill was also referred to the House Apportionment and Elections Committee.

Looming Deadline for Action: HB 228, HB 249 and SB 2223 must be passed by their respective committees by Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
