New Generation of Leaders Needed

New Generation of Leaders Needed

Welcoming Ibie Hart to the Common Cause team as Youth Organizer. Ibie will work to prepare student activists to be a new generation of leaders in the fight to preserve and expand democracy.

Our country and our democracy are in a daily state of emergency. Our current political climate has proven that change is needed. We need a new generation of leaders who honor the true democratic process and are ready to fight for the rights and values of every American.

That’s why I’m excited to announce that we are welcoming a new member to our team, Ibie Hart. Ibie is the new Youth Organizer with Common Cause Illinois, where she will focus on working with young people to prepare the next generation of activists in the fight to expand voting rights, get big money out of politics and preserve our democracy.

Ibie Hart

Ibie is a Civitas Child Law Fellow J.D. and M.P.P. Graduate from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. As a student, Ibie founded Stand Up For Each Other, Chicago! SUFEO is an organization that was created to address the school to prison pipeline and support student rights. Since law school, Ibie has chaired the People’s Lobby Mass Incarceration Task Force and amended the Illinois school code with mental health legislation, which she drafted for Senator Lightford. She lives in Hyde Park and loves creative arts.

In a time of national uncertainty, Ibie is committed to building a diverse movement of young leaders that will protect and expand the core values of democracy. But she can’t do it alone.

Can we count on you to donate $5, $10, $25 or more to support the Common Cause Student Network?

These are trying times, but we’re ready to fight harder than ever for the government Illinoisans deserve. To get to know Ibie better, and to help her grow the Common Cause Student Network, you can reach her directly at ihart@commoncause.org.

Thanks for all that you do,

Brian Gladstein, Executive Director
And the rest of the team at Common Cause IL

P.S. We are now accepting applications for our Fall Fellowship program! If you know a student that is passionate about democracy issues and looking for a way to fight for what they believe in, encourage them to send their resume to Illinois@commoncause.org!
