Take Action to Fight Big Money

Contact the candidates who are running to represent you in Delaware's legislature. Tell them put forward a plan to fix our democracy for the next legislative session.

This is what the Fight Big Money Delaware campaign is all about:

Ensuring that constituents like yourself interact directly with the candidates running to represent you, and urging them to be specific about how they will work to get big money out of politics. To get started type your address below, then select it from the autocomplete dropdown.

Then click "Find my candidates" to see if your legislative candidates have gone on the record for the Fight Big Money Delaware agenda.

Candidates can find the questionnaire here.

As a Common Cause Delaware member, I would like to know what you plan to do to reduce money in politics and strengthen democracy in Delaware? In 2015 and in 2016, four bills were introduced in the legislature that would have increased the amount of money in Delaware politics! Luckily, they did not pass. What also did not pass, however, were bills that would have strengthened democracy in Delaware – including Veasey recommended bills to strengthen disclosure, curtail the influence of well-heeled lobbyists, and increase public integrity; bills to make it more convenient for eligible voters to cast their ballots; and a bill to establish independent redistricting reform. In addition, a proposed bill to create a small-donor public finance system never even got filed.

I am a voter in your district, and I believe I have a right to know where you stand on money in politics, voting rights, and democracy reform, and what your plan is to confront these issues if you’re elected to the legislature. That is the purpose of the Fight Big Money Delaware questionnaire that you were emailed. Candidates need to go on the record with what policies they support. I am asking you to fill out this questionnaire and return it to fightbigmoneydelaware@gmail.com as soon as possible.

You can also find the questionnaire at www.commoncause.org/DEquestionnaire. Money in politics and democracy reform are key issues for me. Please tell the voters where you stand.
