For Immediate Release Commissioner Wade recuses herself from Cigna-Anthem merger

Statement by Cheri Quickmire, Common Cause in Connecticut

Posted on September 15, 2016

“Common Cause asked months ago that Commissioner Wade recuse herself from any consideration of the merger, so of course we’re pleased she has finally done so.

“But her action today does not resolve all questions about Ms. Wade’s potential conflict of interests in the Cigna-Anthem deal. She should immediately provide the records requested by the Citizens Ethics Advisory Board so that it can make a proper determination.”

Common Cause is a nonpartisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy. We work to create open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promote equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all; and empower all people to make their voices heard in the political process.
