Voting on Election Day

NEW! Election Day Registration (EDR)

This November 4th, CT residents can vote on Election Day even if you didn’t register to vote ahead of time. With Election Day Registration (EDR) at the special EDR location in your town, you can register AND cast your vote on Election Day.

Here’s how it works:

1. You’re eligible to vote using EDR IF you are:

Not currently registered to vote in CT: new CT voters, never registered, or purged from voter lists.Registered in a different town than where you currently live. For example, students who were registered at their parents’ house but now live in Storrs; or if you moved to a new town but didn’t re-register to vote.

You cannot use EDR if you moved within the same town. Go to the polling place for your new precinct and vote using a Transfer Form.

2. There is ONE designated EDR location in each town.

Do NOT go to the polling place for your precinct. Addresses for key town’s EDR location are listed on the back of this sheet. Other towns may be found at the web or phone number on the back of this sheet.

3. Special ID requirements apply for EDR.

You need to bring document(s) to show who you are AND where you live:A valid current driver’s license with your correct address; OR Social Security card or birth certificate AND your current address on a utility bill, paycheck, or government document. (If you get your bills or paycheck via email, you can show it at the poll on your cell phone or electronic tablet.); OR Student ID AND your current address on a dorm assignment, fee or registration statement, utility bill, paycheck, or government document. (Again, cell phone or tables copies are acceptable.) If you don’t have the above ID forms and want to vote, call the Voter Protection Hotline at (844) 868-3428 and we can help you figure out what should work.
