Take action with Colorado Common Cause
For the first time in our country’s history, a national effort is underway to re-write the U.S. Constitution—without any guarantee of what could be added or omitted, or who would be in the driver’s seat.
And Colorado may be the next to sign on.
House Joint Resolution 1015 and Senate Joint Memorial 005 each call for a national constitutional convention. If a convention were called, delegates at the gathering would be able to re-write the U.S. Constitution without any guarantee of what could be added or omitted.
Please write your state legislators NOW and tell them to vote NO on House Joint Resolution 1015 and Senate Joint Memorial 5. >>TAKE ACTION HERE
A public records request published in March 2018 exposed 15 Colorado state legislators who are current members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).
ALEC brings together corporate lobbyists and state legislators to create business-friendly model bills—behind closed doors and without public input. These bills are then introduced into state legislatures across the country. ALEC has helped pass state laws that loosen environmental regulations, enforce stricter voter identification rules, weaken labor unions and the rights of workers, and more.
ALEC likes to operate in secrecy, and has done an excellent job keeping out of the public eye. The organization does not release names of their members, and all ALEC meetings are closed off from the public and media.
Our elected leaders should serve their constituents—not corporate interests. If your Colorado state legislator is a member of ALEC, contact them RIGHT NOW and demand that they cut ties with this organization. >>TAKE ACTION
