Independent Ethics Commission

The voter approved ballot initiative Amendment 41 set up a new structure in Colorado for ethics in government. In order to make sure the new laws, and any ethics laws created thereafter, are followed, an independent enforcement body was created. The Independent Ethics Commission hears complaints, issues findings, assesses penalties, and issues advisory opinions. The relatively new body has been working, but much more needs to be done to support their mandate.
