Colorado Common Cause is led by a dedicated and engaged board of directors, who bring a variety of expertise to our organization. 

Jennifer Hunt
Board Chair

Jennifer is a First Assistant Attorney General with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where she works on state antitrust enforcement and civil consumer protection cases. A member of the Colorado Common Cause Board since 2008, Jennifer now serves as board chair and has represented the organization pro bono in various litigation matters, including challenges to state campaign finance rules. Jennifer lives in Louisville with her husband and two daughters.

Carol Peeples
Board Vice-Chair  

Carol works to reduce recidivism to prison and jail through her consulting company, Humboldt Consultants, Inc. She is the founder of a voting project for people disenfranchised due to their criminal record, and an advocate for community involvement in the political process. Carol joined the Colorado Common Cause Board in 2013, chairs the Board Governance and Development Committee, and serves as vice chair.

Gary Fornander

Gary is now retired after teaching physics, math, economics, and experiential, interdisciplinary, community-based education in Colorado Springs Public Schools for 30 years. Gary currently works to create effective, open and transparent processes in city and county government. A member of the Colorado Common Cause board since 1995 (and board chair in 2000), Gary represents Colorado Common Cause on the Pikes Peak Equality Coalition.

Bill Goldberg

Bill is an attorney in private practice in Denver, representing mostly small businesses and individuals on transactional matters. Many of his clients are restaurants and specialty food producers. His family came to Colorado in the 1800s, and he is dedicated to keeping government open and honest for the next generation.

Brian Gryth

Brian is an advocate for transparency and civic engagement, and has over a decade of experience in government and civic technology. After graduating from law school, Brian served in the Colorado Secretary of State's Office, where he founded the civic engagement program Go Code Colorado. Brian also co-founded, a government data transparency nonprofit.

Jeff Hart

Jeff has spent four decades working to build public trust and confidence in government. He has worked in the Government Accountability Office, as a senior EPA manager, and a consultant in government accountability and transparency. He has been a CCC board member since 2011 serving as treasurer and Executive Committee member, and chair of the Board Development and Nominating Committee.

Robert Johnson

Robert works for a web-based business training and coaching program where he helps athletes, business owners, executives, and other senior managers with strategic planning and brand direction. Robert believes that everyone should have a voice when it comes to being involved in their community, including having the opportunity to vote. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder.  

Ben Larson

Ben is a commercial litigation attorney with the law firm of Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC in Denver. He has been on the board of Colorado Common Cause since 2013 and currently serves as chair of the legal committee. Ben also represents Colorado Common Cause in a pro bono capacity, providing assistance on various litigation-related matters.  

Sol Malick

Sol has lobbied for 11 sessions in the Colorado State Legislature and is owner of his own lobbying firm, Peak Government Affairs LTD. Sol represents mostly non-profit interests, and has always been an advocate for good and transparent state government.

Bill Parsons

Bill is an attorney in private practice in Denver in the areas of federal, state and local tax planning and business law. Bill joined Common Cause in 1972, became a member of the Board of Directors in 1978, and served as Chair from 1983-1986. Bill also served on the Common Cause National Governing Board from 1987-93 and 1999-2005. On the National Governing Board, he chaired the State Organization and Programs Committee for eight years. Bill currently is a member of the Colorado Common Cause Executive Committee.

Judith Singleton

Judith first became associated with Colorado Common Cause in the mid-1970s, and became involved with CCC after serving as an Election Judge in Jefferson County in 2002. Judith has been a member of the Colorado Common Cause board of directors since 2003. Judith has a strong interest in elections, government ethics, and the initiative process.

Martha Tierney

Martha is a partner at Tierney Lawrence LLC in Denver, where her practice emphasizes government relations, election law, and employment law.  Martha co-chairs the Colorado Lawyers Committee's Election Task Force, serves on the Colorado Common Cause Board of Directors, and serves as vice chair of the Common Cause National Governing Board.  She is a graduate of Colorado College and Vermont Law School.

Barb Van Hoy

Barb provides nonprofit policy advocacy and training services in Colorado Springs. As a nonprofit fundraiser and director, Barb has worked to advance a broad range of missions from economic and social justice to higher education, equal rights, environmental stewardship, local theater, and low income access to legal services. Barb is a Metropolitan State University alum and lives on the west side of Colorado Springs.

Roy Wardell

Roy is a semi-retired, third generation rancher who is significantly involved with local civic and charitable organizations in his rural community. He has a BS in Animal Science and graduate degrees in both Genetics and Counseling Psychology. Roy is a charter member of Common Cause (1971) and is currently the Outreach Committee Chair for the Colorado Common Cause board.
