Overturn Citizens United

California Common Cause firmly believes that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are only persons entitled to constitutional rights. And the people of California agree. On Nov. 8, 2016, California voters approved Proposition 59 - the Overturn Citizens United Act - directing Congress to limit campaign spending and contributions by passing a federal constitutional amendment. We support the move to overturn Citizens United so that corporations can't spend unlimited amounts of money on campaigns, and in return affect public policy and spending priorities. Our organizers and coalition partners led the charge toward Prop. 59's victory by building grassroots support for overturning Citizens United through passing local resolutions in cities and schools across the state. Join us in our crusade to give government back to the people.
