Ask your Congresspeople to co-sponsor the Voter Empowerment Act

In the State of the Union, we heard President Obama repeat a call he first made on Election Night 2012: We must modernize our election systems and get rid of hurdles like long lines that disenfranchise thousands of eligible voters every election. To make his point, the President was joined at the State of the Union by Desiline Victor, a 102-year-old Florida woman who waited three hours and had to take two trips to cast her ballot in November.

Voting should not be an endurance sport.

The reintroduced Voter Empowerment Act, H.R. 12 in the House and S. 123 in the Senate, would offer Americans convenient alternatives to our outdated paper voter registration system, push back against ballot bullies and deceptive practices, and implement basic national standards like mandatory early voting periods in all 50 states.

Please contact your Representative and Senators today and ask them to co-sponsor this important legislation
