Close the revolving door

These days, retired and termed out politicians don't have to fade away; they cross over to the other side. In fact, many are finding lucrative employment working for lobbying firms and companies seeking government contracts.

As lobbyists, they can visit all their old haunts in the Capitol, representing the special interests who have hired them. What's even scarier, they can get around the one-year ban on becoming lobbyists by simply calling themselves advisors or consultants.

Ask the Political Reform Act Task Force to increase the one-year revolving door ban to two years, and to tighten the rules so that former elected officials cannot earn income from special interests during that period.
