Ask Legislators to Support a National Popular Vote

Four times in our history, (most recently in 2000) the Electoral College has sent a second-place candidate to the White House. This almost happened again in 2004. While the 2008 election was a landslide, it nonetheless highlighted another problem of the current system -- 98% of the campaign ad spending and candidate visits were in just 15 battleground states. To make sure the second place candidate never wins the presidency ever again, please send a letter to your legislators asking them to support the National Popular Vote -- a binding agreement among states that guarantees the presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
