Melanie McElroy joined Common Cause in 2011 as executive director of Common Cause Michigan.
Prior to joining Common Cause she was a political consultant for local, congressional and statewide political campaigns and organizations in Michigan. Her primary focus was fundraising, and most recently she served as finance director of Jocelyn Benson’s campaign for Secretary of State in Michigan in 2010—a campaign who central themes were election reform and the need for further campaign finance reform in the wake of Citizens United.
Melanie has a bachelor's degree in History with a concentration in Public Policy and Public Service from Albion College.
