On May 2nd, the Governing Board of Common Cause held the 2010 Democracy Awards Celebration

At the home of Bob and Lynn Irvin.

This year we honored State Representative

Wendell Willard with an Outstanding Public Official Award.

The following people received our Outstanding Citizen Awards:

Peggy Denby of Atlanta, for her work keeping Atlanta clean and safe through her work with Keep Atlanta Beautiful and the Midtown-Ponce Security Alliance.

   Margaret Newkirk of Atlanta, for her outstanding work as a utility and Public Service Commission reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

 James Blackburn of Habersham County, for his two decades of work as an advocate for smart growth planning in north Georgia.

 

Chris Hardnett Morris of DeKalb County, for her work over thirty years in delivering quality community service through her role as the County Director of Community Development.

Edward Bosheras of Glynn County, for standing up for the intrerests of all citizens of Georgia as a member of the Jekyll Island Authority board.

Dale Russell of Atlanta, for his long career in investigative reporting with FOX 5 Atlanta, and for the I-Team coverage of the Susan Richardson story in late 2009.
