The California Student Democracy Training

Application Deadline Extended to June 26th!
Join fellow students from across California for two days of training and workshops on the issues that challenge California's democratic process and how students can organize to fix them. Organizing workshops will include:
- Organizing Students and Faculty
- Building Coalitions
- Lobbying Elected Officials
- Implementing Campaigns
- How to Work with the Press
Students will also learns the ins and outs of good government policy including election reform, voting rights, money and politics, media ethics and government accountability.
Students who attend the 2010 Democracy Training will also be eligible for paid Campus Coordinator positions starting with the 2010-2011 school year.
To Apply:
Students wishing to attend the 2010 Democracy Training should submit an application by email to Anjuli Kronheim at akronheim@commoncause.org Applications should include:
1) An updated resume including on-campus activities and past experience.
2) Answers to the following two application questions:
a) If you had 2 years and unlimited volunteers, what California government reform issue would you tackle?
b) What qualities of a great student organizer do you possess and how would you utilize those qualities to promote your chosen reform issue on your campus?
The 2010 Democracy Summit will be held at the offices of the California Clean Money Campaign in Los Angeles, California. Housing will be provided for students at the Ramada Inn along with all meals during the weekend summit. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from Los Angeles.
