Common Cause Columbus, GA

 

Common Cause Columbus is a local chapter of Common Cause Georgia. Our mission is to be a watchdog organization on governmental activity in the Columbus, Georgia area. By our efforts we hope to promote ethical and transparent government.

 

 

  • Common Cause Columbus establishes an education committee to monitor Muscogee County School District regular board meetings

     

    January 20, 2009: Fife Whiteside, a former member of the Muscogee County School Board from District 5, joined the Board of Directors of Common Cause Columbus on January 15, 2009. After 14 years on the School Board, Mr. Whiteside remains dedicated to educational issues and will head up Common Cause Columbus' education committee. Mr. Whiteside and the committee plan to attend and monitor school board meetings on behalf of Common Cause Columbus members.

  • Columbus Chapter Elects 2009 Officers

     

    January 15, 2009: At the board meeting held on January 15, 2009 the membership elected the 2009 Board Officers.

     

    The 2009 Executive Committee members are as follows:

     

    Alton Russell, Chairman

    Murray Solomon, Vice Chairman

    Beth Harris, Secretary

    T. J. Melvin, Treasurer

    Josh McKoon

    Fife Whiteside

    Nolan Murrah

     

    In addition the board established a three person Education Committee dedicated to monitoring meetings of the Muscogee County School Board.

  • Annual Meeting Scheduled

     

    December 10, 2008: Our annual meeting for the purpose of electing new Governing Board members and new officers for the new year will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009, 6:00pm at CSU, Cunningham Center, 2nd floor, Gentian Blvd Columbus, Georgia

     

    Meetings are open to the public.
