A Gift of a Retirement or IRA Account
“An alive, aware citizenry will not lessen the need for leaders; it will ensure better leadership. Good constituents produce good leaders.”
--- John Gardner
An engaged citizenry, beginning by educating our youth and continuing through decades of active participation in local and national policymaking, is critical to an open, honest, and accountable democracy.
A simple way to ensure a legacy of active citizens is by naming Common Cause a beneficiary of a retirement, IRA, or other financial account policy.
By naming Common Cause to receive part or all of your account at death, your estate would receive a charitable estate tax deduction, and Common Cause would receive the proceeds without owing any income taxes, enabling us to put 100% of your gift toward our programs.
To include Common Cause as a beneficiary of your retirement or other financial planning plan, simply complete a “Change of Beneficiary” form with your plan provider. You will need the following information to complete the form:

The John Gardner Legacy Circle is our way of expressing our heartfelt appreciation to those who make a significant commitment to a government by and for all future generations. Donors of retirement or other financial plans are invited into our John Gardner Legacy Circle.
