Bette Marchant is Common Cause’s senior vice president for operations, as well as the organization’s chief financial officer (CFO). She joined Common Cause in September 2007.

As the chief financial officer, Bette is responsible for finance, human resources, network administration, data management, membership services, and internal operations.

Previously, Bette was the CFO and managing director of finance and administrative services for the National Crime Prevention Council in Washington DC. Prior to that, Bette was an independent consultant and controller of The Falls Church, a non-profit in Falls Church, Virginia.

Bette studied accounting at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia before earning a bachelor of arts from George Mason University. She also holds a graduate certificate in financial planning from Georgetown University.
